Good Coder Execution Plan

Hopefully, like me, you're here because you're interested in software development and entrepreneurship.

The Tech Guy

Deep down inside, I'm a technology guy (more specifically, a software development guy). I've built and shipped (internal) software products, with heavy focus on the data side. Writing scalable and reliable code, which gets used by (happy) users, is what keeps me going.

I have been working in the tech field for about ten years now. Till this day, I still have a lot of fun and like what I do very much (being a developer and write code).

Entrepreneurship

After working many years for other companies, I realised I would like some form of ownership (stake) or control (say) in the work that I create. This makes me have skin in the game. Hence, the entrepreneur in me thinks it time to create a more entrepreneurial vision for my career.

The Trifecta

I strongly believe in diversification (though it has to be balanced). This goes for financial diversification, lifestyle, but also career. Hence, I have come up with the following strategy.

Angel Investor

I am planning on investing in the next generation of unicorns, investing with small ticket investments (5 - 50k) at a time. Aside, from financial investment, I prefer to become part of the team as software developer.

Getting me on the team, means I will be hands-on involved. I will be able to bring knowledge and expertise on both high level decision making, as well as low level.
In other words, I will consult on topics such as software architecture, but at the same time, I will also be doing coding myself.

I am currently open for new startups to connect with.

Open Source Framework

As a proponent for OSS (Open Source Software), I am ready to contribute.
I will be launching a Python package (good-coder) which will be available on PyPI.

The idea behind this package is, is that I encounter various problems when working at different companies. I will be collecting all of the awesome automations and solutions I build, and share them with the world. Some problems I occur are very niche, this might not be interesting for the entire development community, but making one dev happy is changing the world entire.

Once the package has enough traction, I will be looking into several business cases. I will be focusing on enterprise features, enterprise support (e.g. prioritising on specific bugs), and looking for sponsorships.

Freelance

Last, but not least, I still enjoy freelancing a lot, and will be continuing to do so.

The Reach-out

During my thought process, I figured I need more exposure to the world, and so I started this blog. I will update this blog bi-weekly, and it will be on topics concerning software development and startups.
