The SaaS Mixtape
Mixtapes are created by artists to showcase their ability (skillset) and to create hype for their upcoming projects. Basically, they are promotion material.
I want to use the same strategy for the next SaaS product I will be creating. Before starting on my SaaS product ('the album'), I first want to focus on three (smaller) SaaS apps, of which one might be the demo/teaser of the bigger SaaS product.
"PROJECTS"
I want to demonstrate my ability to develop state of the art SaaS apps by mimicking existing apps and enhancing them with my own artistry.
- Good Coder Electra Maps
- Competitors: NA (Energy Companies in NL)
- Displays a map with information on the electricity grid in the Netherlands.
- Launch date: 13.01.2025
- Good Coder Flows
- Competitors: Airbyte / Fivetran / Shakudo
- Runs Python (ETL) Scripts with support for Apache Spark and Unity Catalog allowing to be run on either on our infrastructure / BYOC (Bring Your Own Cloud) / Hybrid
- Launch Data: 10.02.2025
- Good Coder Fade-AI
- Competitors: Orq.ai
- Tailor-made LLMs that can be used in production by enterprise.
- Launch Data: 03.03.2025
I want to approach the development of my 'mixtape' with some rules / conditions.
"THE RULES"
- Development cycle of max. 1 month.
- Progress is reported every week (aka "Good Friday Blogs").
- The backlog and thus the scope of each of these apps are still to be determined. Key requirement is that the apps have to deliver something cool / exciting / entertaining / useful for users.
- Apps will be presented to "Roundtable Guests".
"TECH STACK"
- Front-end: Next.js (React) | HTML + HTMX.
- Back-end: Python + PostgreSQL + S3 | Blob.
- Users can signup and authenticate. Either with Google or GitHub.
- Cloud Provider: Azure | AWS.
"ROUNDTABLE GUESTS"
- A close group of people who can give me feedback.
- Determine when and how I can share these apps with users online.
- Determine which platforms (LinkedIn/ Reddit / X / Product Hunt) to share links on.
- Determine on how to gamify user sign up and how to go viral.
"GOAL"
Although one might think I am setting this up for myself to succeed, I am actually trying to figure out when I will fail with delivering these apps and why. This is will create growth and will be lessons learned for the next mixtape I will be creating.
